What’s Wrong With This Picture?

Pill Tote

If you need to carry around in your purse or backpack the pills you must take over the course of a day, beware of products like this.  I bought this on Amazon and am disappointed.

Here’s what happens:

  1. You sort your pills into the various compartments, place the day’s set of pills (for example, Monday’s four compartments pop out of the large tray as a single unit) into your bag, and skip out the door feeling groovy.
  2. When you arrive at work and open your bag, you find that the individual tops have flipped open and your pills are now scattered among the lint, papers, used Kleenex, house keys and other items in the bottom of your bag.

My solution:  put the daily container strip inside a plastic zip-lock sandwich baggie.  However, even then the tops pop off and I have to sort the pills out again.

A reviewer on Amazon suggests the following (bolding mine):

This doesn’t work like my old blue one does. The case compartments don’t stay closed – I have to put a rubber band around each day in my purse so they will not spill out. Now I have to try to order another blue one and hope it works better. Will not be using this again. Probably give to my Mom who doesn’t carry her meds around, or donate or recycle. Disappointed in the quality.

Consumer beware!

January 31, 2016 Update:  I continue to use these pill tray compartments, putting them in a plastic sandwich bag and wrapping a rubber band around it, then carrying the day’s pills to work in my backpack.  But some of the daily trays have cracked after only a few months’ use.  Buyer beware!
