Shining Star: Michael J. Fox!

Michael

There’s a scurrilous online gossip newspaper article this week reporting damaging, overly dramatic things about Michael J. Fox.  Don’t ask me for the link, however.

Instead, I encourage you to read this article about an hour-long interview Michael gave recently at Pomona College.  It’s newsy, honest, upbeat.

Some quotes:

For more than an hour, Pomona College professor Nicole Weekes and Fox discussed his career and family and fielded questions from students about living with Parkinson’s disease.

and…

He encouraged attendees to cherish what happens in between those life-altering moments, adding that the disease teaches him new things everyday.

“I believe I played the game right, and I’m in a much better position than when I was when I was diagnosed,” he said. “By not projecting into the future of where I would be now, I’ve been able to live my life.”

and…

Fox believes everyone should have access to health care. He envisions a future where there’s no reason people would hold their hands while gripping coffee because they have to hide Parkinson’s from their boss, he said.

and…

Since his diagnosis’s disclosure, Fox has worked to eliminate the disease in his lifetime. The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research has raised $450 million for research.

And, and, and!
