Update:  World Parkinson Congress

IMG_2599

Before we get to anything else, I’m thrilled to report that the world-famous Parky the Raccoon, official mascot of the World Parkinson Congress, has yet another new home, this time in Florida.  His host there, one of my regular readers, sent me the above photo!  I must say, that’s a gorgeous pillow behind him!  Let’s hope to see more of Parky in his new environs!

Meanwhile, here’s an update on the Congress:

Registration is now open!  The Congress runs from Sept 20-23 in Portland, Oregon, but you can register now!  Click here for the various price levels.  Note:  if you have PD, or are a care partner of someone who does, you may qualify for discounted registration fees.

Abstract submission is also open, and will close Apr 25.  Click here for more info.  Most of the presentations will be by PD researchers, but Parkies are invited to submit abstracts for poster sessions.

Apply to be a WPC Volunteer!  The Congress is looking for volunteers who can help run this enormous enterprise.  Click this for that!

Apply for a Travel Grant!  There are two kinds to apply for:  (1)  For people who already live in Oregon and Southwest Washington, you can apply now.  (2)  For all others, the application dates are from Feb 15 through Apr 25.  Click here for more info on both categories.

Submit a video about your life with Parkinson’s!  Click here for that.  It’s a contest, but who cares!  In my opinion, everyone who does this is a winner!  Deadline:  May 1.

Follow Parky the Raccoon’s world-wide adventures, and upload your own photos/stories!  Click!  Don’t have a Parky?  Click here to remedy that situation!

Phew!  So much clicking!  I gotta take a break!

But you can be sure there’ll be lots, lots more in the weeks ahead!
