#UniteForParkinsons – World Parkinson’s Day, April 11, 2017

April 11 is World Parkinson’s Day, and this year marks the 200th Anniversary of Dr. James Parkinson’s Essay on the Shaking Palsy, which was the first official recognition of Parkinson’s as a health condition.  (See cover page, below.)

The European Parkinson’s Disease Association (EPDA) and Parkinson’s UK are calling on the world Parkie community to raise international awareness about PD.  You can do this by posting selfies or stories on various social media about your life with Parkinson’s, using the hashtag #UniteForParkinsons.

According to the email I received from the EPDA:

The campaign is calling for everyone affected by Parkinson’s to use the hashtag #UniteForParkinsons on 11 April 2017 – and to share their thoughts, experiences, hopes and plans for the future.

To learn more, download this PDF document:  Unite for Parkinson’s.  It contains lots of suggestions for what you can do on April 11, and plenty of downloadable graphics.
