Sunny Sundays!

In celebration of all things sunny, Parking Suns now features every Sunday a different YouTube music clip about the sun!

This week’s entry (as well as the next few weeks of entries) was suggested by my sister, Harriet Davis.  It’s Joni Mitchell singing “Both Sides Now.”

The opening lines:

Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I’ve looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way…

I think these lines will also resonate for many people with Parkinson’s disease:

But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I’ve changed
Well something’s lost, but something’s gained
In living every day

I’ve looked at life from both sides now
From up and down
And give and take
And win and lose
And still somehow
It’s life’s illusions I recall
I really don’t know life at all

BTW, “Both Sides Now” is also the title of a terrific book, written by Alice Lazzarini, Ph.D., a research scientist who investigated the role of genetics in Parkinson’s disease, then came down with Parkinson’s herself.  To read my reviews of Alice’s book, click here!  and here!

Enjoy your week!
