Throwback Thursdays Art

Every Thursday, as part of my personal “enriched environment” initiative, I post a piece of art, usually from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which recently released online some 400,000 high-resolution images of its collection.  I won’t name the piece or the artist, but instead invite you to study the image and write a comment about what you see or what it makes you think of.  All images will have a sun (or sunlight) in them somewhere.

So study the picture, and leave your reflections below!

  1. I don’t know what this is. it lookss like a glob with a scarf around its neck and two tattooed arms that end in cartoon-like fists. it’s weird. yes there is a sun, a moon and some polkadots. a second sun in the lower right margin or at least the outline of a sun.

Hi Chris, Thanks for following my website so closely. The scarfy object actually has three light sources on it – stars, moon and sun. It’s Japanese and I’d have to go back to the Met’s website to get more details. I agree it is bizarre. – Bruce
